Keep Your Number (Porting)

Switching to Free Link Wireless? You can bring your current phone number with you.

Quick answer

To keep your number, give us your current carrier's account number, your transfer PIN (sometimes called a port-out PIN), and the billing name and address on that account. Don't cancel your old service until the transfer is complete.

What you need

  • Your phone number
  • Account number from your current carrier
  • Transfer or port-out PIN
  • Name and address on the current account

How to get your transfer PIN

Most carriers let you generate a transfer PIN in their app, online account, or by calling customer service. Prepaid carriers sometimes use your account PIN instead.

How long it takes

Most wireless-to-wireless transfers finish within a few hours, but some take up to 24 hours or longer. Your new phone may show a temporary number until the port completes.

Transferring your Lifeline benefit

If you already get Lifeline from another provider, you can move your benefit to Free Link Wireless when you apply. Only one provider can receive your household's benefit at a time.
